Behind the Design: The Kindred Therapy Website Template

A Soft, Stylish, and Strategic Website for a Therapist with a Bold, Compassionate Voice

— Featuring the Kindred Template

Kindred Therapy is a fictional practice created to showcase a customizable Squarespace website template—but the themes behind it are deeply real: identity, life direction, boundaries, and burnout.

This design speaks directly to women who feel lost in the noise of what they should be doing and are ready to reconnect with themselves. The therapist behind this site specializes in helping women navigate identity shifts, career confusion, and chronic people-pleasing—especially those who’ve always been the one keeping it all together for everyone else.

It’s a site that says: you don’t have to burn it all down to come back to yourself.

Modern, Insightful, and Made to Resonate

When designing the Kindred template, I wanted it to feel clear, connected, and energizing—not cold and clinical. There’s a sense of lightness to the layout and colors, without losing warmth or depth.

The palette is fresh and slightly feminine, with warm, muted tones that don’t overwhelm. Remove the blush and swap in some bolder imagery, and it easily becomes more gender-neutral. But if your practice centers on millennial or Gen Z women—this design is going to land.

Even though the layout feels bold in parts, it’s still spacious and uncluttered. It has a youthful, happy, and grounded vibe—like the kind of therapist who’s deeply insightful but still totally down-to-earth.

The Aesthetic: Warm, Smart, Slightly Cheeky

I wanted the visual design to feel both grounded and a little unexpected—like the best therapy conversations. The Kindred template’s color palette of sage, peach, ivory, and goldenrod brings softness and warmth without slipping into cliché “spa vibes.” The scalloped shapes, checkered dividers, and notepad-style CTA add a touch of personality and playfulness, while the typography keeps everything feeling modern and clean.

The result: a website that says “I get you”—but also “let’s talk about what’s holding you back.”

Fonts That Mirror Your Voice

I paired a clean serif font for headlines with a modern sans serif for body text—thoughtful, approachable, and easy to read. This combo reflects the tone of the therapist this site was built for: someone with wisdom and experience, but also a sense of humor and humanity.

The overall feeling is: you’re in good hands here, without anything feeling stiff or overly formal. It strikes that sweet spot between confident and casual.

Design Details & What the Copy Focused On

Throughout the site, you’ll find intentional design choices that reinforce the therapist’s message: a centered layout, generous whitespace, and purposeful color choices to avoid overwhelm and guide the eye. There’s a confidence to this site—it doesn’t try to impress, it simply invites the right people in.

The photography is key. You’ll see women at ease in their own company—walking solo, journaling in the sun, sipping coffee on the porch. There are no overly posed group shots or dramatic therapy clichés here. The imagery reflects the internal clarity and intentional decision-making that this therapist helps her clients build.

Each specialty area is written to speak directly to the lived experience of the therapist’s ideal clients:

  1. Identity & Self-Discovery

For the woman who checked all the boxes—degree, job, relationship, maybe even motherhood—and still feels disconnected from herself. She wants more than just coping skills; she wants to finally hear her own voice beneath the noise.

  2. Career & Life Direction

For the one who’s climbing a ladder she doesn’t even want to be on. She’s tired of chasing someone else’s version of success and wants to figure out what actually feels meaningful to her.

  3. Boundaries, People-Pleasing & Saying No

For the woman who’s exhausted from constantly managing everyone else’s emotions. She’s ready to start honoring her own needs—without torching her relationships or abandoning herself.

The copy across the site is warm, plainspoken, and emotionally intelligent. It skips the jargon and meets the reader where she already is—in the swirl of quiet doubts and inner “is this all there is?” moments.
